Corporate Jungle

Info

Artwork In brief

The vegetation has taken over the corporate world! “Corporate Jungle” presents an imaginative transformation, where business offices, cities and leadership have been overtaken by the nature itself.

The news about climate change can be depressing and a lot of people suffer from climate anxiety. In “Corporate Jungle” I intentionally sought to approach the situation from a playful angle to capture people’s attention in an alternative way.

The piece features fantastical business offices and major commerce cities (reminiscent of New York, London, Shanghai, Paris, Berlin), now engulfed by lush vegetation. The cityscape dominated by nature invites us to reflect on the urban environment and maybe ponder, how we could transform these once-largest sources of pollution into sustainable and thriving ecosystems. Alternatively, for skeptics, it may symbolize nature striking back and reclaiming the cities that were once built and, perhaps, emptied by a pandemic or other disasters.

Within the artwork, the new business leaders take the form of wildlife figures, many of which represent endangered species profoundly affected by climate change, such as polar bears, snow leopards, and pandas. What if they held the power to decide? We often take for granted, that humans have absolute control over nature. Until now business has transformed nature, but in ”Corporate Jungle” it is the other way around – nature has taken over our infrastructure and leadership.

The companies are in key role in the struggle against the climate change. While some responsible companies have taken the lead in this endeavor, there remains countless ”bad boys” who have yet to embrace sustainable practices. Hopefully ”Corporate Jungle” serves as a last call to action, encouraging more companies to join the green game.
