Mondrian Creatures

Info

Artwork In brief

Say hello to these charming creatures, inspired by abstract art masters such as Piet Mondrian, Kazimir Malevich, and Paul Klee, as well as whimsical and naive monsters straight out of a children’s book.

Piet Mondrian (1872-1944) was a pioneering abstract artist and is regarded as one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. He is particularly renowned for his abstract geometric paintings that incorporate rectangular forms and primary colors. Kazimir Malevich (1879-1935), an avant-garde artist and theorist, simplified his style into pure geometric forms. Paul Klee (1879-1940), with his diverse body of work, is harder to categorize, but he also explored geometric mosaics and playful puzzles that have served as inspiration for this piece. By utilizing primitive abstract forms and playful puzzle metaphors, I created this set of colorful and naive creatures.
