The horizon often represents the boundary between the known and the unknown, the familiar and the unexplored. Horizon encompasses endless possibilities, an invitation to venture beyond our comfort zone and embrace the unknown. Throughout history, explorers, scientists, and artists have expanded our understanding of the horizon, continually pushing its boundaries. Unraveling the horizon – whether physical or mental – often demands our utmost reasoning, creativity, and courage, making it a challenging yet rewarding process.
The short film “Endless Horizon” takes us through an infinity of horizons, all seamlessly stitched together, forming a superwide canvas. As the new horizons unfold and the story reveals itself, the spectator is kept in wonder of what’s coming next. The imagery for the film is drawn from the gallery below, which contains even more horizons.
The horizon also serves as a powerful metaphor for the future, a vast canvas upon which we project our hopes and dreams. It becomes a repository for our utopias and dystopias, aspirations and anxieties. Gazing upon the horizon, we are reminded to persistently pursue our goals. When we fail, we tend to look further away in the horizon knowing that answer may lie beyond the visible horizon line.
In many cultures, the horizon holds mythical and spiritual significance, representing a transition point where the earthly meets the divine and the heavens touch the Earth. Some even view it as a symbol of enlightenment and spiritual growth, as it serves as a liminal space, bridging the tangible and the intangible, the temporal and the eternal.
“New Horizons” explores various horizons – dreams, hopes, fears, utopias, dystopias. As your gaze stretches to the distance, faint yet discernible, a myriad of surprises unfolds – mirages, peculiar creatures, exploration vessels, spiritual emblems, pathways, and portals… There is plenty of space for interpretation as horizon becomes a mirror that reflects the desires and aspirations of each beholder. “New Horizons” is an invitation to see beyond what your eyes perceive, to explore the uncharted territories of our own minds, to discover the worlds that lie within and beyond the ever-expanding horizon.
