**Artist: Johan Meuris.** The 24 `.webp` files in this directory are the unmodified constellation artwork distributed by Stellarium’s Western sky culture.

- Original images: https://github.com/Stellarium/stellarium-skycultures/tree/master/western/illustrations
- Upstream credits and licence declaration: https://github.com/Stellarium/stellarium-skycultures/blob/master/western/description.md
- Image licence: **Free Art License**. Full terms are available at https://artlibre.org/licence/lal/en/.

The image files remain separately accessible under their original licence. Asteria projects the images onto the sky and changes their displayed opacity using screen compositing. The source image files are unchanged. Artwork adaptations in the display retain the Free Art License; the separately distributed images may be reused under that licence.

## Placement metadata

`../../artwork-data.js` adapts image paths, sizes, and three Hipparcos star anchors from Stellarium’s Western sky culture index:
https://github.com/Stellarium/stellarium-skycultures/blob/master/western/index.json

Author: Stellarium’s team. Licence: **CC BY-SA**, as designated in the upstream description. Changes: selected 24 entries, keyed them by IAU abbreviation, changed paths to local assets, and wrapped the data in a JavaScript assignment for offline loading. The adapted metadata retains that same CC BY-SA licence.

Source files retrieved 2026-10-11; six additional figures and their anchors retrieved 2026-10-12. Other application files and separately licensed assets retain their own terms.
